This April 3rd The Global Health Campaign launched to the world with our first ever OneLife concert. The concert took place in a small church in England that we turned round into a haven of candles, glowing lights and an intimate atmosphere that allowed us to convey our passion for our work on a personal level. After months of preparation our CEO took to the stage and outlined our plans for sustained development in rural Africa, keeping everything low key and focusing more on the positives, showing how we can see large scale change in African healthcare. The night also featured performances by Abbe Smith and Sarah Kay. Abbe Smith is one of the most promising up and coming singer songwriters in the UK and features heavily in our first campaign - The One Million Project. Abbe brings together an ecletic mixture of styles to produce some of the most refreshing music we've heard in years and we're really excited to be working with her. Sarah Kay is a spoken word poet from New York City and founder of Project V.O.I.C.E. Sarah began performing her poetry around New York when she was only fourteen and has become a staple at the infamous Bowery poetry club. She has performed in venues across America, including the United Nations and has featured on "Russell Simmons Presents HBO's Def Poetry Jam" where she performed her poem "Hands" We plan to develop the OneLife concert into an annual event with some of the worlds best performers in some of the worlds greatest venues so it was fantstic to get a chance to launch in such an intimate environment. |

On July 19th 2010, The Global Health Campaign launched the One Million Project in partnership with Blue Gull Records. The One Million Project was designed to be a ground breaking week of change for healthcare in rural Africa where we aimed to raise one million pounds, every day, for seven days. Sadly however we were not able to raise the amount that we set out for. This though will not halt our work. Desipite our launch campaign not going to plan, The Global Health Campaign is still very much commited to our aims to develop free sustainable healthcare across Africa and are now even more focused on our annual OneLife concert; which to date has been very successful. We will be back next year with an even stonger line up than before; bringing together some of the worlds best performers in a bid to change healthcare in Africa. In the mean time we would like to thank everyone who supported the One Million Project and remind you all that you can always donate to The Global Health Campaign right here on this website. |
